Articulation

Articulation

Articulation refers to speech sound production. Speech sound production involves the coordinated movements of the lips, teeth, palate, tongue, and respiratory system. Those with an articulation disorder have difficulty with perception, motor production, or phonological representations of speech sounds.

An individual with an articulation disorder will demonstrate errors that extend beyond the typical age of acquisition. Additionally, they may have a harder time unlearning the sound errors the longer they are untreated.

If you still have questions or are unsure whether your child might have an articulation delay or disorder, have your school or school system contact us today for a free consultation!
